Special Fresnel lenses are moulded into flat synthetic films or heat-transferrable lacquer by specialist suppliers, the rings being only a few micrometres in width. Clear or metallised lenses allow the creation of unique visual effects; designated printed areas can be made to provide striking 3-D effects despite the surface being completely flat.  Lenses not only deliver optical enhancements but also serve brand protection purposes.
